A new career rumour for Angelina and this time it is as a James Bond villain and if this is true, it will be the second time Angie and Daniel Craig work together. Daniel was in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 together with her.
James Bond 25 LEAK? ‘Angelina Jolie set for VILLAIN and Lily James in running as co-lead’
James Bond 25 has seen another alleged leak, this time claiming Angelina Jolie is set to play the villain, while Lily James and Dua Lipa are in the running for Daniel Craig’s co-lead.
It has a release date set for November 2019, but very little is known about Craig’s fifth and final James Bond movie.
While he’s definitely signed on, rumours have been mounting around director Danny Boyle and John Hodge’s script.
Now a new leak has arrived from a Reddit user who previously claimed: “I work in the film industry and know people tangentially connected to the world of Bond.”
Cashley Persia alleges: “I’ve heard that Boyle has committed to a script and casting is underway.”
They continued: “Supposedly, the big roles in the script are the female villain and Bond’s understudy (another female role).
“I hear Sophie Rundle, Lily James, Ella Purnell and Antonia Thomas have auditioned/met with Boyle (though this list is not exhaustive).
Variety posted an article about Angelina still being in talks if she will star in this project or not. It sounds like a movie that would suit Angelina really well, being a pilot her self and fantastic in action roles! It’s interesting to see if it happens!
“Divergent” helmer Neil Burger will direct an untitled film based on the memoir by Purple Heart veteran Maj. Mary Jennings Hegar, sources tell Variety.
Angelina Jolie is circling the lead role of Hegar. The Gotham Group is producing.
The current draft of the movie will be written by Alice O’Neill and Burger; the previous versions of the screenplay were penned by Frank Baldwin and Jason Hall. O’Neill and Burger most recently collaborated on the Showtime series “Billions,” where O’Neill currently serves as story editor, and Burger served as an executive producer and directed the first two episodes. They also co-wrote the screenplay “Tara Delaney,” with Burger also attached to direct.
The book was originally brought to the studio by Nicole Brown, who will oversee the project with Hannah Minghella.
As detailed in her memoir “Shoot Like a Girl,” Hegar earned a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross for serving three tours of duty in Afghanistan as an elite rescue pilot, flying dangerous search and rescue missions in hot zones, and transporting hundreds of men and women off the battlefield under extreme circumstances. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment occurred on U.S. soil, though, where she opened the front lines for women by successfully taking on the Department of Defense, arguing that the Combat Exclusion Policy barring women from combat duty was unconstitutional and unjust.
This was just released and is just a fun fact that Angelina auditioned for the 90s classic The Craft which is about a group of teenage witches. Happens to be one of my childhood favorites and would had been so fun if Angelina had starred in it 🙂
Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon all auditioned for which cult 1996 horror about teenage witches?
It was while they were still young and practicing their, ahem, craft…
With hindsight Jolie, especially, seems like she would have been perfect for the movie. But this was 1996, so it still two years until she would unleash the full range of her ability to play extremely troubled characters in Gia and Playing By Heart during her breakthrough year of 1998.
However, she was pipped to the post at the time by another rising star, Neve Campbell who was riding high in Party of Five.
We still wish we had seen Jolie as a furious, vengeful teenage witch, though.
If you have been an Angelina for a couple of years you know that Angelina has been both rumored to star and to direct the movie Cleopatra. Now there is rumors that Denis Villeneuve will direct it and we don’t know if Angelina will be part of the project at all – lets just hope so! We know Angie has been interested in it for a long time and I think she would be perfect for the part.
In 2014 she mentioned the project last:
“She’s complicated, it’s complicated to get this one right. I think we’re getting there. It’s getting close. I imagine the preparation for it is going to be big. It’s one of those that you think maybe that’s the one you put everything into and that’s where you end it, that’s where you finish – in a great way. What could you do beyond that one?”
Deadline posted about this:
The first social media reviews around the world on Blade Runner 2049 are calling the film a sci-fi masterpiece. Now, its director Denis Villeneuve is in discussions for one of Sony Pictures’ highest profile pictures. Deadline hears that Villeneuve will re-develop to direct Cleopatra, the epic female empowerment story of one of history’s most complex heroines. Based on the bestselling Stacy Schiff biography that is being produced by Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal, Cleopatra has seen the biggest filmmaker names circle this one including James Cameron, Paul Greengrass and David Fincher. Now, it’s Villeneuve who has sparked to the challenge and in a week he might be the hottest guy out there.
That filmmaker has quickly catapulted to the top of the A-list after directing Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival and then taking the Blade Runner baton from Ridley Scott. He has also been one of the three director names on the short list to direct the next James Bond film, along with ’71 and White Boy Rick director Yann Demange and David Mackenzie, the Hell or High Water director now filming Outlaw King, the story of rebellious Scottish king Robert the Bruce, for Netflix. Villenueve is also developing a new version of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic Dune for Legendary Entertainment. The expectation is 007 isn’t in the cards, and that he can work on Cleopatra while directing Dune.
Sony has a script that David Scarpa, Eric Roth and Brian Helgeland have all worked on. Angelina Jolie has long been eyed to play the Egyptian queen, but it is unclear whether that still will happen. Sony’s David Beaubaire is overseeing for the studio.
During an episode of the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press, Jeff Sneider talks about Angelinas career and that there is a rumor about Fox wanting Angelina to star in the new X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie. If this is true or not, we will just have to wait and see to find out!
X-Men 7, officially titled X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is going to be one of three X-Men movies Fox is releasing in 2018. With production needing to get underway relatively soon in order for the movie to hit its November 2, 2018 release date, some casting rumors are starting to surface. If this particular rumor is true, Fox is going after some A-list talent in the form of Angelina Jolie for an unspecified role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
The news comes courtesy of Jeff Sneider, who dropped the revelation very subtly on the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press. While talking about Universal’s possible plans of nabbing Angelina Jolie for the lead role in The Bride of Frankenstein, Sneider also slipped in that she appears to be in contention for a part in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Here’s what he had to say about it.
“I think Angelina Jolie needs to reassert her commercial viability and needs to do a big movie. And if it’s not Dark Phoenix, which I don’t think it will be, Then I think that she should do Bride of Frankenstein.”
