Big news today! First They Killed My Father will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this autumn and I just can’t wait to see this movie! This also means new event photos – which always is a treat 🙂 An not only this, but The Breadwinner will premiere at the festival as well.
The schedule will be released on August 22.
I’m so eager to get to watch this movie. And I’m so happy it has got such good reviews so far, but more importantly that people who was affected by these horrible times feels like it give a authentic view on their struggle.
When the film was seen by those who survived, they shared that the movie depicts the real struggle that they have experienced. Two million people were killed within the period of four years. One survivor said that it was like her acting her real experiences in the movie. The pain was again felt and the horror came back to life.
Angelina Jolie used to visit Cambodia and she felt compassion for the people. In fact, her eldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt is a Cambodian. He was one of the executive producers as the credits say in the movie. According to Metro, his work in the film was his first ever real job. Jolie said that his son was very interested in the project. He became a hands-on crew of the production team.
Angelina Jolie’s “First They Killed My Father” is a must-see movie, a heartbreaking account of the extent of man’s cruelty but also a story of heroism and human strength.
Someone finally uploaded a video from the ‘Good Morning America’ interview (Aired February 21). Here Angelina mentions the divorce and is the source of all the articles posted online lately with Angelina’s quotes.
To be able to handle such attention for something that is so private. I will always be impressed in how she can be so professional, honest and polite when getting sometimes even rude and intruding questions.
Angelina was on Good Morning America on February 21st promoting “First They Killed My Father” and I can unfortunately not watch this because I don’t live in the US. You can watch the interview here and for us others we will have to wait for someone to hopefully upload it to YouTube 🙂
Some quotes from the interview:
Angelina Jolie says she still believes Brad Pitt is a wonderful father and their family “will be stronger” following their divorce.
The actress spoke on US television about her high-profile split from Pitt, from whom she filed for divorce in September after two years of marriage.
She told Good Morning America: “We are focusing on the health of our family. And so we will be (healthier).
‘We will be stronger when we come out of this, because that’s what we’re determined to do as a family.”
Asked if she still believed Pitt was a “wonderful father”, as she had once described him, she replied: “Of course. We will always be a family.
In the video I posted yesterday Angelina mentions the divorce and she handles it with grace as usual, even though you can hear that it’s obviously a sensitive subject. This clip above is just a short one and if you want to view the first one go to the previous post on this site.
This news is all over the internet today and that’s why I bring it up as well. I hope the whole family are ok and they will get to handle this privately in the future, if that is their wish.
“I don’t want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time and…and we are a family and we will always be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it.”
