Some news on Angelina and and the Jolie Pitt Dalton Helic Foundation that was posted recently online.
Angelina Jolie donated over $1 million to her foundation in just a span of two years.
According to The Sun, the Jolie Pitt Dalton Helic Foundation was launched in 2015. At that time, the “Maleficent” star gave over $499,000 to help finance the women’s programs.
Two years later, Jolie’s contributions to the foundation have reached over $1.35 million. The figures escalated after she revealed that she was sexually abused by disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein. Jolie and her friends’ foundation are dedicated to stopping violence against women.
Accounts also revealed that Jolie gave the foundation over $800,000 after she exposed Weinstein’s wrongdoings. The producer denied sexually harassing Jolie in 1998.
“I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did. This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable,” she told the New York Times in October.
Article written by Angelina and Jens Stoltenberg for The Guardian. A very important article so be sure to read it!
All violence against women betrays the fundamental promise in the UN Charter of equal rights and dignity for women. It is one of the prime reasons why women remain in a subordinate position in relation to men in most parts of the world.
When this violence is committed as an act of war it tears apart families, creates mass displacement, and makes peace and reconciliation far harder to achieve. In fact, it is often designed expressly to achieve those goals as part of a military strategy.
Despite being prohibited by international law, sexual violence continues to be employed as a tactic of war in numerous conflicts from Myanmar to Ukraine and Syria to Somalia. It includes mass rape, gang rape, sexual slavery, and rape as a form of torture, ethnic cleansing and terrorism. It accounts in large part for why it is often more dangerous to be a woman in a warzone today than it is to be a soldier.

As Harper’s Bazaar celebrates its 150th anniversary, Jolie shares her thoughts on women’s rights and our responsibility toward the environment.
Actress and filmmaker Angelina Jolie is known for using her voice to champion human rights causes around the world. Her latest producing project, The Breadwinner, tells the story of an 11-year-old Afghan girl named Parvana who dresses as a boy in order to feed her family in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, where women were not allowed to work or attend school. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Harper’s Bazaar, Jolie shares her thoughts on women’s rights today and our responsibility toward each other and our environment.
When I was asked to write for this special anniversary edition of Bazaar, I imagined a female reader of the magazine 150 years ago, in 1867. If she’d been able to see us—today’s women—what would she have made of us?

Angelina went to the screening of the documentary Human Flow, directed by her friend Ai Weiwei. But she didn’t just attend it, she also introduced the movie and the director. The event was in Beverly Hills, CA and Angie’s daughter Shiloh attended as well.
The event itself was hosted by United Talent Agency (UTA), the same agency that represents Angelina. UTA wrote on their social media “Honored to have clients Angelina Jolie & Ai Weiwei host a screening of @aiww’s moving film about the global refugee crisis #HumanFlow.”
Ai Weiwei is a Chinese artist and activist and Angie has been seen with him several times. The scarf she’s wearing at this event is also designed by Ai himself!
The documentary features 140 minutes and brings up the refugee crisis in 23 countries including France, Greece, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico, Turkey, Bangladesh and Kenya. You can view the trailer below as well as Angelina at the event, plus don’t forget to go to Ai’s Facebook page to read more about him and his projects and causes.
